Survivable software distribution and maintenance
نویسنده
چکیده
This thesis describes a software distribution and maintenance system that reduces administration costs while increasing survivability. Contributions include design, implementation, and analysis. The system applies automation wherever possible and takes maximum advantages of economies of scale. The implementation extends an existing replication tool to provide multiplatform support, user assisted cache management, and support for middlemen in the distribution system. Middlemen relieve both system administrators and end users of administration and maintenance tasks. This arrangement leads to higher survivability, lower operating costs, and allows new value added services in software maintenance. A Fast Strategy to Find Solution for Survivable Multicommodity Network
This paper proposes an immediately efficient method, based on Benders Decomposition (BD), for solving the survivable capacitated network design problem. This problem involves selecting a set of arcs for building a survivable network at a minimum cost and within a satisfied flow. The system is subject to failure and capacity restriction. To solve this problem, the BD was initially proposed with ...
متن کاملSystematic Generation of Stochastic Diversity as an Intrusion Barrier in Survivable Systems Software
Survivable systems software must exhibit high resistance to intrusion. A process of stochastic diversification can help increase resistance to intrusion through random obscuration of survivable system properties. Intruders often rely on analysis of source code to identify and exploit vulnerabilities in software. The ability of intruders to understand and analyze code can be dramatically reduced...
متن کاملRequirements Definition for Survivable Network Systems
Pervasive societal dependency on large-scale, unbounded network systems, the substantial risks of such dependency, and the growing sophistication of system intruders, have focused increased attention on how to ensure network system survivability. Survivability is the capacity of a system to provide essential services even after successful intrusion and compromise, and to recover full services i...
متن کاملSurvivable Information Storage Systems
A s society increasingly relies on digitally stored and accessed information, supporting the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of this information is crucial. We need systems in which users can securely store critical information, ensuring that it persists, is continuously accessible, cannot be destroyed, and is kept confidential. A survivable storage system would provide these guara...
